    Ashleigh began dancing at the young age of 3 in her home town Barnsley, England. Throughout her childhood dance training she took examinations in I.D.T.A Ballet, Tap, Modern, and musical Theatre completing all student grades up to teacher level. Ashleigh also spent some time in gymnastics and Irish Dance and performed in numerous pantomimes such as; Sleeping Beauty, Jack & The Beanstalk, Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs etc.At the age of 16 Ashleigh went on to study A Level Dance and BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts at her local college. During this two year period Ashleigh continued in Ballet, Tap, Modern & Musical Theatre but added Contemporary, Dance Anatomy, History of Dance and Technique.From the completion of her college course Ashleigh was accepted to Newcastle Performing Arts School & then Scottish School of Contemporary Dance where she completed her Bachelor of Arts In Dance. During her time on the BA course Ashleigh worked with Scottish School of Contemporary Dance Team and toured the UK.She also complete numerous dance conventions and dance teacher summits.Whilst studying for her degree Ashleigh also had the opportunity to teach and work at a local dance studio where she fell in the love with teaching. This led to her next path, as she went on to complete her Postgraduate Certification of Education in Physical Education & Dance. After gaining all of her qualifications Ashleigh made the move to the United States to be with her family and found Footlite School of Dance and is currently the Assistant Director of the school, head of the competitive teams and a dance instructor.

  • Melanie Preston

    INSTRUCTOR

    Melanie is a dance teacher at Footlite School of Dance as well as a fitness instructor who is certified in barre and licensed in Zumba Fitness and Zumba Step. She started dancing at a studio in Southern California at the age of three and has continued to love dance ever since. At her high-school graduation, she received special acknowledgement and a certificate award in the area of “performing arts” for her participation in dance, and competitive color guard throughout high school. She continued on to receive an AA in Humanities and also Dance at Mt. San Jacinto College. In 2016, Melanie became a licensed Zumba instructor. In 2019 she became a certified barre instructor through American Barre Technique. She also teaches line dance, ballroom, and wedding lessons on a private basis.

    Melanie’s dance philosophy is to share your story through dance. Choreography can be a tool, like a paintbrush, to paint a beautiful image or to share a story worth telling.
